why we started this
In Brittney's Words & Ours
Living with metastatic breast cancer means a lot of things. It means our lives become very expensive overnight. It means we lose more friends to this disease than we would ever dare to count. It means we become all too aware of how short and precious our time here is.
Our friend Brittney Beadle lived an extraordinary life with metastatic breast cancer. A life filled with love, joy, advocacy, kindness, and lots of dancing and laughter. She passed away earlier this year at just 29 years old. Her original diagnosis was when she was 18 years old. Although her time with us was far too short, she inspired millions of people around the world through her advocacy, writing, and social media.
Her legacy will be one of kindness, generosity, and metastatic joy. That’s why we were inspired to start the Be Like Brittney Fund. To remind anyone living with metastatic breast cancer to embrace a little bit of Brittney’s spirit & go out and find some joy in a month that can be very triggering for our community. Stage 4 needs more. Brittney deserved so much more time.
To help support our dream, or nominate yourself or a loved one who has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, please use the application button below.
We hope this inspires everyone, beyond just those of us with metastatic disease, to never stop looking for the joy. And to remember to take the time to really appreciate the beauty all around us. To live. To Be Like Brittney.

Be Like Brittney Fund FAQ
Who can be nominated?
Anyone diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. You can nominate yourself or a loved one. You do not need to justify or provide receipts for what will bring you joy.
How are recipients selected?
While we wish we could fund everyone, we can't (yet). 31 applicants will be selected at random from all eligible nominations on a rolling basis in October 2026. If a nominee is selected, we'll reach out directly within 36 hours of the announcement. Every nomination matters to us, even the ones we can't fund this time.
What happens if more than $15,500 is raised?
31 thrivers is just the beginning. Every additional $500 raised is one more person supported. The more we raise, the more thrivers we can support.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donations made to WeGotThis.org are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
